The Do-217 was a bomber used by the Luftwaffe during WWII and was another highly advanced aircraft with features ahead of its time. It was designed as a heavy bomber for shorter missions with production beginning in 1940. The numbers built weren’t that great (around 2000), especially when compared to the production of other aircraft.

What are some amazing strategies which were used in World. Konstanz was not bombed by the Allied Forces during World War II, because the city left all its lights on at night, and thus fooled the bombers into thinking it was actually part of Switzerland! Ingenious solution. This is partly because it's on the predominantly Swiss south side of the lake of Bodensee. And partly because the bombers were headed towards Friedrichshafen, which was home to massive military-industrial factories, including the zeppelin-airship hangars.

Bodensee- Germany – WHAT A PLANET Also, during WW2, its vicinity to neighboring Switzerland proved to be a blessing. The residents did not black out their town and hence were spared air raids since they were thought to be Switzerland.
